Need help? Most questions are answered below. If your issue isn't covered, drop us an email and we'll usually reply within one business day.

Getting started

  1. Tap Select Video on the home screen and pick any video from your library.
  2. Drag the trim handles on the timeline to choose a clip (up to 30 seconds; wallpaper mode is auto-trimmed for best lock-screen behaviour).
  3. Drag inside the selection to set the Key Photo. This is the still cover that shows in the Photos app.
  4. Toggle Wallpaper Mode if you want to use the wallpaper as a Lock Screen wallpaper. Otherwise leave it off for original-quality output.
  5. Tap Create Wallpaper. The result is saved straight to your Photo Library.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between Lossless mode and Wallpaper mode?

Lossless Passes your video through without re-encoding. Original resolution, original bitrate, original audio. Best for sharing on social media or saving memories.

Wallpaper Re-encodes to 1080×1920 H.264 60 fps with the metadata Apple's Lock Screen wallpaper engine expects. Use this if your goal is a Live wallpaper.

How do I set a wallpaper as my Lock Screen wallpaper?

Open Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos, pick the wallpaper you just created, then tap the small Live icon at the bottom-left of the preview before saving.

Alternatively, find the wallpaper in Photos, tap Share → Use as Wallpaper.

How long is the wallpaper motion?

About 1 to 1.5 seconds, by Apple's design. The Lock Screen wallpaper engine plays a short, fixed-length motion regardless of the source clip length. iPhone's built-in motion clips record at roughly 1.5 seconds for the same reason. EasyLive's Wallpaper Mode caps the export at 1.5 s so the result you see in Photos matches what iOS actually plays on the Lock Screen. Use the trim handles to pick the most expressive moment in your video, since that's what shows on the Lock Screen.

The "Live" toggle in the wallpaper editor is greyed out

iOS sometimes disables the Live toggle on imported motion clips. Apple has confirmed via Developer Technical Support that there are undocumented requirements for wallpaper eligibility. This isn't a bug and isn't specific to EasyLive. Every third-party wallpaper app hits the same wall. What we've found helps:

My wallpaper is silent

If you tapped the speaker icon to mute audio before exporting, the result has no audio track. Re-create it with audio enabled. Wallpaper-mode Wallpapers always include audio when the source clip has it.

Why can't I create more wallpapers this month?

The free tier allows 3 conversions per calendar month. Tap Subscribe to upgrade to EasyLive Pro for US$2.99 / month. You get unlimited conversions, no ads, and you can cancel anytime. The subscription works across every device signed into your Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, find EasyLive Pro, and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also reach this page from inside the app via the menu (⋯) → Manage Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep Pro features until then.

I subscribed on another device, how do I restore?

Open the menu (⋯ in the top-right of the home screen) and tap Restore Purchase. Make sure you're signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.

Subscription terms

EasyLive Pro is an auto-renewable subscription billed at US$2.99 / month (or local equivalent). Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage in App Store account settings.

Where does my video data go?

Nowhere. Conversion runs entirely on-device. We don't upload your video, we don't keep copies, we don't have analytics SDKs. See our Privacy Policy for the full story.

Output looks soft or pixelated

Wallpaper mode upscales to 1080×1920 with high-quality Lanczos interpolation. If your source is below 1080p (e.g. 720p screen recordings), expect some softness. Output can never be sharper than the input.

Landscape video gets cropped

Lock Screen wallpapers are 9:16 portrait. Wallpaper Mode centre-crops landscape clips to fit. If you don't want cropping, turn Wallpaper Mode off and the original aspect ratio is preserved.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. EasyLive runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS / iPadOS 17 or newer.

Will it support Android / Mac?

This motion format is Apple-only, so the app is iOS-exclusive. There's no Android plan.

Troubleshooting

Photos library access denied

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → EasyLive and choose Full Access. The app needs to read source videos and save the resulting clip back.

Conversion stuck or app crashed

Force-quit the app (swipe up from the home indicator, swipe up on the EasyLive preview) and reopen. If the issue repeats with the same source video, please email it to us and we'll investigate.

The app crashes on launch after updating iOS

Try uninstalling and reinstalling. Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, so it'll restore automatically. You can also tap Restore Purchase from the menu to force it.
